Spring Campout Overview:

The leadership team will be setting up Friday night you are encouraged to come out and setup Friday night as well. We will be providing dinner Friday, breakfast, lunch and dinner on Saturday and breakfast Sunday. If you are planning to come out Friday night we will have hotdogs for you grill at your convenience.

You may want to bring in between meal snacks and drinks. We will provide the menu ahead of time in case you need to bring some of your own food if you have a very picky eater in your family

We pay for X number of sites but we put 2 - 3 families per site to save money so you will be sleeping in somewhat close proximity to others so you need to be considerate and keep the noise down after lights out. Site assignment is based on your Den or Patrol. Also remember that NO alcohol is permitted at any Cub Scout event.

When we do Cub Scout camping as a Pack it is expected that the boys will be tent camping. Campers are not prohibited but we would like to see the boys camp in tents. We are trying to prepare the boys for Boy Scouts and they need to learn how to set up tents and get used to sleeping in a tent. Also since we put more than one family to a site, campers make it pretty crowded. If you need a tent or have an extra tent you can share notify you leader. This is family camping so your whole family is invited. One important point to note is that there should be no child sleeping in a tent with an adult that is not their parent or guardian. This is against Cub Scout rules and is for your protection as an adult

We will provide firewood for the main campfire so if your den wants their own fire then you will need to bring some of your own firewood. We will do a flag retirement ceremony around the main campfire so if you have any old flags that need retired please get them to the Cub Master on Friday night as it takes some time to prepare them for the ceremony.

Since we are camping very close to the lake you will be able to fish. If you want to participate you need to bring your own fishing equipment and bait. Don't forget about your fishing license.

We get a break on the price of camping sites. In turn we are responsible for doing some type of service project for the park. We will do this by picking up trash during our hike so bring gloves. This will also count toward the "Leave No Trace" requirement.

There will be scheduled activities during the day on Saturday. Some of them will meet certain rank achievements and electives. Some may meet requirements for belt loops and other badges. A schedule will be posted at the mess tent..

We will have a cross over ceremony at dusk on Saturday night. There is where the boys cross over to the next rank. Those that attend will receive the book for their next rank if applicable. If the boys have earned their rank badges and have not received them yet (Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelo I) they will receive them as this time as part of the ceremony. This is a special ceremony so feel free to invite friends and grandparents to attend the ceremony. Don't forget to bring your camping chairs as there is no seating available except on the ground

Each den will be responsible for helping with cooking set-up, clean-up and cooking. There will be a schedule posted at the mess tent and your den leader will let you know which meals you are responsible for before the campout.

Last but not least - we need a lot of helpers to make this event work. We need people to help set-up on Friday afternoon from 3-5. We also need people to stay around on Sunday and help with break-down of the camp site

Hope this helps you new campers and cross your fingers for great weather!
