WAYS THAT YOU CAN SELL POPCORN:
There are two basic ways to sell popcorn:
"Take Order" is where the scouts and/or parents take orders by going door-to-door or taking the order forms to work and take orders for popcorn. You don't have to take payment for the order until it comes in, at which point you go back to the people who order the popcorn, deliver their order, and get the money. The advantage to this method is that there is no planning required ahead of time. How much popcorn you order is completely determined by how many orders you get. The disadvantage is that it can sometimes be hard to catch people a second time to deliver the popcorn and get the money.
"Show-and-Sell" is where you get the popcorn up front and you can either set up a table in front of a local store (with the store's permission of course) and sell popcorn there, or you can go door-to-door selling popcorn. The advantage to this method is that you only have one single contact with your customers; the order, delivery, and payment all happens at once. The disadvantage is that you have to try to plan how much popcorn you are going to sell. Too much, and you have to worry about returning popcorn before the end of the Popcorn Sale. Too little, and it can sometimes be hard to get more popcorn. The Pack is going to mitigate this risk by ordering EXTRA popcorn, because we can always use the extra show-and-sell popcorn to fill orders. Please only take what you think you will sell so that there is enough for everyone. We can always get more if we run out. If you need to know how much you sold last year contact your den leader or the Kernel as we have those records from last year.
"Sales Blitz" *** We are not going to do one this year as it was not very sucessful - most people have spots they like to sell. I will give a $5 K&W gift certificate to the person who sells the most on the weekend of 9/15 and the most on the weekend of 9/29. You will need to call me at the end of Sunday on each of those days and tell me how much your son sold. I will announce who won on each of the following Mondays.
"Prizes" There are lots of prizes that each boy can win. They can earn prizes based on their sales (see prize forms), if they fill a full order sheet they are entered into a District Drawing, if they sell at least $500 between 9/21 and 10/7 they are entered into another drawing and lastly there is the chance to win a prize if they sell at the mystery house (more details to come on this one).
DO YOUR BEST!
Thanks for all that you do for the Pack ....
